Make Your Resolutions Specific and an Arsenal Prediction

Image
In my last episode of the Thrivapy/Roddyverse show , I discussed setting goals for 2018. One piece of that episode dealt with making your goals specific. To recap, specific means: There needs to be an element of time associated with the goal. The goal needs to be measurable. For example, a goal to lose weight does not speak to any timeline or measurable outcome. Instead, losing 36 pounds this year has both. To make the goal even more "sticky" break down the goal into more manageable parts. In this example, that might be 3 pounds per month or 1.5 pounds every 2 weeks. In my future posts, I will continue to dig deeper into goal setting. This includes the other aspects of good goals (challenging, realistic, and flexible) as well as tips for how to align your goals with your higher purpose and motivational bias. Now for an Arsenal prediction. Arsenal take on West Bromwich Albion today. Both teams are in the midst of a busy holiday schedule having played mid

From the "Roddyverse" - My Arsenal Prediction Was Almost Exact!

In the 4th segment of episode 1 on my Anchor station, I predicted the following regarding the Arsenal v. Crystal Palace match yesterday: Arsenal would win 3-1. Arsenal would get a goal from a defender. Arsenal would give up a goal early in one of the halves. What happened? Arsenal conceded a goal within 5 minutes of the second half - check! Mustafi (Center Back) scored the first goal - check! Arsenal won 3-2 - almost check!

Episode 1: What is your win today?

Episode 1 of my anchor station is up ! The topic relates to the blog post on having a daily win. Oh, and it also has a quick preview/prediction for the Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace match!

What Is Your "Win" Today?

Here is some good advice that was recently shared with me. Each day, define what a "win" looks like for you and put forth the effort to accomplish that one thing. Therefore, even if the rest of the day did not go as hoped, you still have that one win. Now, this was not necessarily new advice. The planner I use has a prompt to define a daily "win." I have even given that advice myself. However, as often happens, in the muck of trying to navigate the challenges presented each day, we can easily forget to follow the strategies we know to be good. 2017 has been a stressful year for many people. I have even heard that 2017 is being known as the "Year of Anxiety." For me and my family, this includes losing almost everything in the flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. Which, by the way, was our second life-changing natural disaster as we also were affected by the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina. 2017 has also been a year of joy. I was fortunat

Anchor Station Preview Episode

Here is a preview episode from my Anchor station.

I've Been Away Too Long

Greetings all, It has been way too long since I engaged in the "blogging game." Over the past few years, much has changed, but my core personal mission has remained the same: to help people create knowledge. As such, I am restarting my blog. What was once The Art of Education is now Thrivapy: Living the Learning Lifestyle . My work will focus on a few core components. These include: tips for living a learning lifestyle (Thrivapy), parenting, engaging with my kids (#papatried), exploring topics of interest, and my thoughts on Arsenal FC (Yes, I am a Gooner!). Essentially, all things in the "Roddyverse" are likely to appear at some point. In addition to this blog, I have a Thrivapy Facebook Page where I share more about the learning lifestyle, including some Facebook Live events. Finally, I just started a station on Anchor in which I share all things "Roddyverse." Those episodes will soon be available as podcasts. Until next time, feel free to
